Japan has its fair share of left hand drive vehicles that originated with the lack of European vehicle dealerships during their economic boom in the late 1980s. During this time weathly Japanese wanted more that what their domestic dealerships offered …. they wanted Porsches, Mercedes, Corvettes etc. Import companies sprouted to buy brand new factory delivered vehicles from these overseas manufactures and most were Left Hand Drive. Those LHD cars were unique to the Japanese and owned by weathly drivers so it became a bit of a status symbol to own a LHD car. To this day some of the more rare, high end import models are availbale in Japan in LHD.

This 2003 VW Golf R32 was an example that was factory delivered to Japan in LHD. We purchased this gem from USS Yokohama auction house for a customer in Oakville, Ontario.
